Analysis

THE AIRPLANE WAS LOCATED AT A REMOTE AIRSTRIP WITH DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE AND LEADING AND TRAILING EDGES OF THE WINGS. THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE ACCIDENT ARE UNKNOWN.

Factual Information

On September 12, 1994, the FAA FSDO in Fairbanks, Alaska notified the National Transportation Safety Board, (NTSB) Anchorage Field Office that a Citabria 7ECA airplane, N68522, was found with substantial damage at the Dave Potts Airstrip approximately 40 nautical miles south of Fairbanks, Alaska. The airplane is registered to and owned by Mr. Bruce Rasmussen of Fairbanks, Alaska. The circumstances surrounding the accident are not known. An FAA inspector reported that the airplane was located on September 10, 1994. The aircraft exhibited damage to the fuselage and leading and trailing edge damage to the wings. The owner of the airplane refused to talk with either the NTSB or the FAA.
