Analysis

THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED 2.2 MILES OFF THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 35 AT CORONADA AIRPORT. WITNESSES STATED THE AIRCRAFT USED ALMOST ALL OF THE 4020 FT RUNWAY BEFORE BECOMING AIRBORNE AND THE AIRCRAFT ACHIEVED AN ALTITUDE OF ONLY 20 FEET. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE AIRCRAFT WAS 34 LBS OVER MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT; HOWEVER, THE AIRCRAFT WAS WITHIN CG LIMITS. THE STUDENT PILOT HAD LOGGED A TOTAL OF 52 HOURS WITH 2 HOURS IN THE BEECH C-23. THE STUDENT WAS NOT PROPERLY ENDORSED FOR THE AIRCRAFT AND NOT AUTHORIZED TO CARRY PASSENGERS.
