Factual Information

On April 13, 2010, Cathay Pacific Airways Airbus A330-342, aircraft registration B-HLL, powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 777-60 engines, experienced a loss of thrust in both engines during approach to the Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong, China. According to the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, the airplane landed at 230 knots while the two engines were producing about 20% and 70% power respectively, and the pilots apparently had no control over the engine power. The airplane was landed safely and no injuries were reported. The flight originated from Surabaya, Indonesia. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the government of China.
