Factual Information

On June 13, 2010, approximately 1800 central daylight time, a Cessna 208B, XA-TWK, was substantially damaged upon impact with terrain following a loss of control during the initial climb from the Felipe Carrillo Puerto airstrip, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The two pilots and seven passengers were fatally injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The airplane impacted a heavily wooded area approximately .12 nautical miles northeast of the departure end of the runway. An on-scene investigation was conducted by the Direccion General de Aeronutica Civil (DGAC) with the assistance from representatives of the National Transportation Safety Board, Cessna Aircraft Company, Pratt & Whitney Canada, and the Federal Aviation Administration. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Mexico. This report is for information purposes only and contains only information released by the Government of Mexico.
