Factual Information

On June 13, 2010, about 1840 coordinated universal time (1540 local time), a Piper PA-42-1000, Argentine registration LQ-BLU, was substantially damaged when it overran the end of the runway and impacted a perimeter fence during a takeoff attempt from Mercedes Airport (MRD), Mercedes, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The flight was destined for La Plata Airport (SADL), Villa Elvira, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The two crew members and two passengers were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the public use flight conducted under Argentine flight regulations. The investigation is under the direction of the Argentine Republic.
