Factual Information

On July 21, 2011, a Bombardier DHC-8-402 (registration G-ECOF), operated by Flybe Ltd., en route from Newquay to Edinburgh, UK, received a forward baggage bay smoke indication while at FL240. A PAN was declared and following an uneventful landing in Edinburgh the passengers were evacuated on the taxiway. No indication of fire or smoke was found during aircraft inspection. The incident is being investigated by the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
