Factual Information

On September 16, 2011, an Ecuadoran Embraer EMB-190, registration HC-CEZ, overran runway 35 while landing at Quito, Ecuador. The airplane was substantially damaged and there were 5 serious injuries among the 97 passengers and 5 crew. The investigation is being conducted by the Ecuador Junta Investigadora de Accidentes (JIA). The NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13 as the State of the manufacturer of the engines. All investigation information will be released by the JIA.
