Factual Information

The pilot reported that he was practicing landings on unimproved surfaces and had just landed on the grass portion of a landing strip. He applied the brakes too hard, which caused the airplane to nose over. The pilot reported no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane or engine that would have precluded normal operation.

Probable Cause and Findings

The pilot’s improper application of the brakes during the landing ground roll, which resulted in a nose over.
