Factual Information

On May 21, 2015 about 1245 UTC, a Robin DR400-140B airplane, French registration F-GBUP, impacted into a cultivated field near the Arras-Roclincourt Airport (LFQD), Arras, France. One pilot and a passenger were killed. Another pilot was seriously injured. The airplane was destroyed in a post-impact fire. Visual Meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The local flight originated at LFQD. French officials reported the airplane was performing a touch and go at LFQD when the airplane's engine lost power. The pilots attempted to perform a U-turn back to the airport when it departed controlled flight and impacted into a cultivated corn field. Arras-Roclincourt Airport resides at an elevation of 337 feet msl. It has one runway designated 05/23 with a grass surface measuring 3,363 feet long and 197 feet wide. This Investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the French government.
