Factual Information

On August 30, 2015, about 1830 universal coordinated time, an Embraer EMB721, Brazilian registration PT-EPD, was substantially damaged during a forced landing after a loss of engine power near São Félix do Xingu Municipality, State of Pará, Brazil. The certificated pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The flight departed Ourilndia do Norte Airport (SDOW), Ourilndia do Norte, in the state of Pará, Brazil about 1750 with an intended destination of Altamira, in the state of Pará, Brazil. According to investigators, the airplane was performing a cross-country flight, when the engine lost power. A postaccident examination of the engine revealed that cylinder No. 2 exhibited a ruptured rod. This accident investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Aeronautical Accident Prevention and Investigation Center (CENIPA) of Brazil.
