Analysis

The pilot of the tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that, during the landing, he flared high, and the airplane bounced. He added that the airplane touched down on the runway "a little crossways" and that both wings struck the runway. The airplane came to rest in a nose-down attitude. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left wing. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
