Palmer, AK, USA

Aircraft #1

N2625Q

Cessna 182

Analysis

The pilot reported that, during the final approach to land the airplane’s airspeed was a little fast and after touchdown he failed to properly apply the brakes. Subsequently, the airplane exited the end of the runway and impacted an airport perimeter fence and ditch. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the right-wing lift strut. The pilot reported no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions that would have precluded normal operation. After multiple requests, the pilot failed to submit the National Transportation Safety Board Pilot/Operator Aircraft Accident Report (NTSB Form 6120.1).

Probable Cause and Findings

The pilot’s excessive airspeed during landing and improper application of the brakes, which resulted in a runway overrun.
