Analysis

The private pilot reported that while performing a stop and go landing, the airplane was not aligned with the runway centerline and immediately veered to the left, ground looped, and impacted terrain. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the right wing and flaperon. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

Probable Cause and Findings

The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing that resulted in a ground loop and impact with terrain.
