Factual Information

On June 1, 2022, about 1527 eastern daylight time, a Cirrus SR22, N432CP, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Tredyffin, Pennsylvania. The private pilot and passenger received serious injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to air traffic control (ATC) communication information provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the pilot was operating on an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight plan and had been cleared for the RNAV approach to runway 6 at Wings Field Airport (LOM), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The pilot cancelled the flight plan while on approach and no further updates were received by ATC. Witnesses at the accident site reported seeing the airplane heading toward the east before it turned toward the south and impacted a golf course. The witnesses assisted the two occupants out of the airplane and waited for first responders. Due to their injuries, the occupants of the airplane were not able to provide statements describing the circumstances leading up to the accident. The wreckage was examined after the accident by a Federal Aviation Administration inspector who reported that the airframe had sustained substantial damage during the accident. The wreckage was recovered and retained for further examination.
