Analysis

The pilot reported that he began the takeoff roll using partial engine power. When the speed reached 45 knots he applied full power, the airplane immediately turned to the left and departed the left side of the runway into the grass. The nose and right main landing gear separated from the fuselage, the right wing impacted the ground and sustained substantial damage. The pilot reported that there were no pre-accident anomalies with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

Probable Cause and Findings

The pilot’s loss of control during the takeoff roll, which resulted in a runway excursion.
